Another Op’nin, Another Show (OPENINGS)
  • Aaron LazarAna Gasteyer and Dan Fogler join Jonathan Groff in the New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center series revival of William Finn and James Lapine's A New Brain June 24-27.

I Wanna Be A Producer (IN DEVELOPMENT)
  • The Labyrinth Theater Company will host a private industry reading of Five Points: An American Musical, June 26. Directed by Dan Knechtges, Five Points features a book by Harrison David Rivers, music by Douglas Lyons and Ethan Pakchar and lyrics by Lyons. "In 1863 in the midst of the Civil War a new art form was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan: Tap dance. Five Points: An American Musical, charts the trajectories of two families — one white and one black — as they risk everything in pursuit of the American Dream."
  • Dancer, a musical about Northern Dancer, the Canadian horse that made history winning the Kentucky Derby in 1964, will play the Elgin Theatre in Toronto May-June 2016, according to Canadian newspaper The Star.
I Hope I Get It (CASTING)
  • Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theater has announced full casting for its July 11 concert reading of the first act of The Prince of Egypt. Joining previously announced leads Aaron Lazar and Norm Lewis, will be Matthew James Thomas, Patina Miller, Stephen Bogardus, Julia Murney, Kyle BarisichJohn Treacy Egan, Ryan Knowles, Joanna Howard, Julia Motyka, and Anna Schiavoni.
It’s Only a Play (PLAYS)
  • Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape, performed, directed and designed by Robert Wilson is amongst the line-up for the Peak Performances season at Montclair State's College of the Arts in New Jersey. Performances will play March 17-20, 2016 at the Alexander Kasser Theater in Montclair.

A Foggy Day in London Town (UK NEWS)
  • The world premiere of Bend It Like Beckham, a new British musical version of the 2002 film of the same name, takes place at the Phoenix Theatre in the West End June 24, following previews that began May 15.

I Want to Go to Hollywood (MOVIE NEWS)
  • Adam PascalBarry BostwickDavid Hasselhoff and Paul Sorvino play combatants in the forthcoming new movie musical, "Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival," which depicts a campy battle between heaven and hell. The film will be shown in select venues around the country where patrons can buy reserved seat tickets in advance.


Stop! Wait! What?! (EVERYTHING ELSE)
  • Jason Robert Brown will conduct selections from his 2014 musical The Bridges of Madison County as part of a special July 2 concert with the Des Moines Symphony. Joining him will be Christiane Noll and Hugh Panaro. They will perform "To Build a Home," "It All Fades Away" and "One Second and a Million Miles." The concert also promises selections from The Music Man and State Fair. Iowa Public Radio will broadcast the performance live beginning at 8:30 PM CT. The broadcast can be streamed at iowapublicradio.org.
  • Tickets for Sylvia go on sale to the general public June 24 at 10 AM ET.
