Sorry for the long hiatus! I have been quite sick. Let's get right into things.

  • The Off-Broadway revival of Annie Baker's The Flick ends its run Jan. 10 at the Barrow Street Theatre.
TKTS (TICKETS/RUSH/ETC)
  • The daily discount lottery at Hamilton will continue to be offered outdoors on the steps of the Richard Rodgers Theatre, but Ham4Ham has moved online.
I Wanna Be A Producer (IN DEVELOPMENT)
  • The Prom, a new musical comedy featuring a book by Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and  Chad Beguelin (Aladdin), with music by Matthew Sklar (Elf), and lyrics by Beguelin, will receive its pre-Broadway premiere in August as part of the Alliance Theatre's upcoming season in Atlanta.
  • That Lovin' Feelin', a new musical chronicling the life and music of The Righteous Brothers, Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, is currently playing a West Coast premiere engagement in Los Angeles.
  • Unexpected Joy, a new musical by lyricist-librettist Bill Russell and composer Janet Hood, will make its world premiere at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors
  • "Mark Medoff has written a new drama, Marilee & Baby Lamb: The Assassination of an American Goddess about film icon Marilyn Monroe, which is scheduled for an invitation-only industry reading Jan. 21 and 22 at the Birdland Jazz Club in New York."
  • Arlington's Signature Theatre has announced the world premiere production of Freaky Friday, Bridget Carpenter, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's new musical. Performances are set to begin Oct. 4, running through Nov. 13 in Signature's MAX Theatre.

I Hope I Get It (CASTING)
  • Nick Cordero will take over the role of Earl, the oppressive husband of lead character Jenna, in the upcoming musical Waitress.
  • Roundabout Theatre Company has announced complete casting for the New York revival of Alfred Uhry and Robert Waldman’s musical comedy The Robber Bridegroom.
  • Complete casting has been announced for the new musical American Psycho.
  • Jenna Gavigan has joined the cast of Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola's Straight
  • David Beach has assumed the role of Brother Jeremiah in Something Rotten
  • "Lilli Cooper has joined the cast of The Wildness: Sky-Pony’s Rock Fairy Tale. The Wildness: Sky-Pony’s Rock Fairy Tale will begin performances Feb. 16, with an official opening night slated for Feb. 29. The Off-Broadway production is scheduled to run through March 19 at Ars Nova. Joining Cooper and the duo, the complete cast also includes David Blasher, Jeff Fernandes, Katie Lee Hill, Jamie Mohamdein, Sharone Sayegh and Kevin Wunderlich."
  • Arlington's Signature Theatre has announced the cast of Road Show, its 26th Stephen Sondheim production.
  • Alison Luff assumes the role of Fantine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables beginning Feb. 4 at the Imperial Theatre.
Come to the Cabaret (CABARETS/CONCERTS/ETC)
  • "Broadway's Future Songbook Series — presented by Arts and Artists at St. Paul — will continue Jan. 25 in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Directed, hosted and produced by John Znidarsic, the 6 PM evening will spotlight the songs of award-winning lyricist Bill Nelson. The free concert will feature the talents of Andrew Boetcher, Christiana Cole, Sean Doherty, Claybourne Elder, Danyel Fulton, Blythe Gruda, Jaygee Macapugay, Orville Mendoza, Nelson, James Oliva, Aaron Phillips, Brad Standley, Allan K. Washington and Gretchen Wylder with the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, conducted by Dr. Charles Beale."
  • "The sixth annual Broadway Belts for PFF!, an evening of music and comedy that benefits the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, will be presented Feb. 29 at the Edison Ballroom. The fundraiser will feature the talents of Tony winners Annaleigh Ashford, Randy Graff, Cady Huffman and Judy Kaye with Telly Leung and Robert Creighton."
  • Don't Break up the Band: A Rock of Ages Broadway Cast Reunion Concert — featuring Broadway Rock of Ages cast members from opening to closing night, will play the Highline Ballroom Jan 25.
  • The annual Broadway Backwards concert — featuring male singers performing songs traditionally sung by women and women singing tunes written for men — will be presented March 21 at 8 PM at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
  • Stephanie Mills will be joined by Will Downing for an 8 PM concert on Feb. 14, titled An Evening of Love: The Valentine's Day Show.
A Musical (MUSICALS)
  • Nerds, the new musical about tech giants Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, has booked Broadway's Longacre Theatre for a spring bow. Previews begin March 31, and the official opening night will be April 21.
It’s Only a Play (PLAYS)
  • Sanctuary, a new solo play written and performed by stage and screen actress Susanne Sulby, examines the impact of war on women over time. Performances began Jan. 3 and continue through Jan. 23.
  • "The White Horse Theater Company will present the world premiere of You Are Perfect, a new play about the life of convicted murderer and "Manson family Susan Atkins. Written and directed by Cyndy A. Marion, the production will run Feb. 5-20 at The WorkShop Theater Company in Manhattan. The cast features Nancy Wolfe, Carlotta Brentan and Brad Burgess."
One Song Glory (ALBUMS)
  • David Bowie's album "Blackstar" was released Jan. 8.
  • Preludes, the musical by Dave Malloy, was released in digital and CD formats Jan. 8
  • The Color Purple announced that it has pushed back release of its cast album to Feb. 12.
They Mean Chicago, Illinois (CHICAGO NEWS)
  • Kate Baldwin will play Anna Leonowens opposite the King of Paolo Montalban in the forthcoming Chicago production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I. The production is scheduled to run April 29-May 22 at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
A Foggy Day in London Town (UK NEWS)
  • The full cast has been announced for the West End transfer of Jessica Swale's Nell Gwynn, about the 17th century actress and royal mistress.
I Want to Go to Hollywood (MOVIE NEWS)
  • Fathom Events and Warner Bros Records will present "Josh Groban: Stages Live" in select cinemas around the country Feb. 4 at 7:30 PM ET.

  • The Flea Theater has announced its 2016 spring season
  • That Physics Show will transfer to the Elektra Theater Off-Broadway for an open-ended run commencing Feb. 26.
  • Project Shaw will continue its 11th season Feb. 15 at 7 PM with a reading of George Bernard Shaw's The Man of Destiny at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre. The cast will feature Robert Petkoff (Napoleon), Bradford Cover (A Lieutenant), Tim Jerome (Giuseppe), Alison Fraser (A Strange Lady) and Charlotte Moore (Narrator).
  • San Francisco Opera has announced the company’s 2016–17 season
  • Len Cariou will star in the world premiere of Broadway and the Bard, an evening of Shakespeare and song.
  • Pittsfield's Barrington Stage Company has announced that its 2016 season will include two world premiere musicals: Joel Waggoner and Eric Price'sPresto Change-O and Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin and Jason SweetTooth Williams' Broadway Bounty Hunter.
